Ingredients

1 pound ground turkey (preferably lean)

1 cup fresh spinach, chopped

1/2 cup feta cheese, crumbled

1/4 cup red onion, finely diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 egg, lightly beaten

1/2 cup breadcrumbs (preferably whole wheat)

1 tsp dried oregano

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional for heat)

Olive oil for grilling

Burger buns (whole grain recommended)

Toppings: sliced tomatoes, lettuce, and tzatziki sauce or your favorite condiment

Instructions

Prepare the Ingredients: Begin by washing the fresh spinach thoroughly and chopping it into small pieces. Dice the red onion and mince the garlic.

Mix the Patty Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, chopped spinach, feta cheese, red onion, garlic, beaten egg, breadcrumbs, oregano, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Use your hands or a spatula to mix everything until well combined, but be careful not to overwork the turkey.

Form the Patties: With your hands, divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a patty about 3/4-inch thick.

Chill the Patties: For the best results, let the patties chill in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes. This helps them hold together better while cooking.

Cook the Burgers: Heat a grill or a non-stick skillet over medium heat and lightly coat it with olive oil. Cook the burgers for about 5-6 minutes on each side or until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) and are nicely browned.

Assemble the Burgers: While the patties are cooking, toast the burger buns if desired. Once the burgers are done, place them on the buns and add your preferred toppings: sliced tomatoes, lettuce, and tzatziki sauce for a refreshing kick.

Serve & Enjoy: Serve the spinach feta turkey burgers hot with a side salad or sweet potato fries for a complete meal!
