Ingredients

2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour

2 teaspoons cream of tartar

1 teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon salt

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 ½ cups granulated sugar

½ cup packed brown sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

3 tablespoons granulated sugar (for sprinkling)

1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for sprinkling)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9x13-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal later.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt until well combined. Set aside.

Cream Butter and Sugars: In a large bowl, using an electric mixer, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

Add Eggs and Vanilla: Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then, beat in the vanilla extract until fully incorporated.

Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the dry mixture to the butter mixture, mixing on low speed until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; the dough should be soft and slightly sticky.

Spread Into Pan: Transfer the dough into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly with a spatula.

Prepare Cinnamon Sugar: In a small bowl, combine the 3 tablespoons of granulated sugar and 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon. Sprinkle the mixture evenly over the top of the dough.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center appears set. A toothpick inserted into the center should come out with a few moist crumbs.

Cool and Serve: Allow the bars to cool in the pan for about 10-15 minutes before lifting them out using the parchment paper. Let them cool completely on a wire rack before cutting into squares. Enjoy your delicious soft baked snickerdoodle bars!
