½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened

¾ cup granulated sugar

1 large egg

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

1½ teaspoons baking powder

¼ teaspoon salt

⅓ cup whole milk

Instructions
 

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a standard muffin tin with 6 cupcake liners.

    Cream Butter and Sugar: In a medium mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

      Add Egg and Vanilla: Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until fully incorporated and smooth.

        Combine Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.

          Mix Dry and Wet Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Start and end with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined - don’t overmix; small lumps are okay.

            Fill the Liners: Divide the batter evenly among the 6 cupcake liners, filling each about ⅔ full.

              Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a cupcake comes out clean.

                Cool: Allow the cupcakes to cool in the tin for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
