Ingredients

1 pre-made pie crust (or homemade)

6 large eggs

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup shredded cheese (such as cheddar, swiss, or a combination)

1 cup diced vegetables (e.g., spinach, bell peppers, onions, and mushrooms)

1/2 cup cooked and crumbled bacon or sausage (optional for a meat option)

1 tablespoon olive oil or butter (for sautéing)

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon dried thyme (or fresh, if available)

Fresh herbs for garnish (chives or parsley)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Prepare the Pie Crust: If using a pre-made pie crust, place it in a 9-inch pie pan and press it gently into the bottom and sides. If making your own crust, roll out your dough and fit it into the pan. Prick the bottom with a fork to prevent bubbling.

Sauté the Vegetables: In a skillet, heat the olive oil or butter over medium heat. Add the diced vegetables and sauté for about 5-7 minutes until they're tender. If you’re using bacon or sausage, cook it in the same skillet until crispy. Drain excess fat.

Whisk the Egg Mixture: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, salt, pepper, and thyme until fully combined.

Assemble the Quiche: Spread the sautéed vegetables and meat (if using) evenly over the pie crust. Sprinkle the shredded cheese on top, then pour the egg mixture evenly over everything.

Bake: Place the quiche in the preheated oven and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the egg is set and the top is lightly golden.

Cool and Serve: Remove the quiche from the oven and allow it to cool for about 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh herbs, if desired. Serve warm or at room temperature.
