Ingredients

4 cups of day-old bread (e.g., baguette, sourdough, or ciabatta), cut into 1-inch cubes

1/4 cup olive oil

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon dried thyme

1 teaspoon dried basil

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for a hint of spice)

2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for extra flavor)

Instructions

Preheat the Air Fryer: Start by preheating your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes.

Prepare the Bread: In a large bowl, combine the cubed bread with olive oil. Toss until all pieces are evenly coated.

Season the Croutons: Add the minced garlic, oregano, thyme, basil, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using) to the bread and oil mixture. Toss again to ensure everything is evenly distributed. If you’re using Parmesan cheese, add it at this stage and toss again.

Air Fry the Croutons: Place the seasoned bread cubes in the air fryer basket in a single layer. You may need to do this in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.

Cooking Time: Air fry for 8-10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through the cooking process to ensure even browning. Keep an eye on them, as cooking times may vary based on the size of the bread and the air fryer model.

Cool and Store: Once golden brown and crispy, remove the croutons from the air fryer and let them cool completely. They will continue to harden as they cool. Once cooled, store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
