Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

1/2 cup breadcrumbs

1/4 cup finely chopped onion

1 clove garlic, minced

1 egg

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

Salt and pepper to taste

2 tablespoons olive oil (for frying)

For the Brown Gravy:

2 tablespoons butter

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

2 cups beef broth

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Prepare the Salisbury Steaks:

    - In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.

      - Form the mixture into oval patties, about 3/4-inch thick, and set aside on a plate.

        Cook the Patties:

          - Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the patties to the skillet, ensuring not to overcrowd (cook in batches if necessary).

            - Brown the patties for about 3-4 minutes on each side until a nice crust forms. Once browned, remove them from the skillet and set aside on a plate.

              Make the Brown Gravy:

                - In the same skillet where you cooked the patties, add butter and let it melt. Stir in flour, cooking for about 1-2 minutes to create a roux.

                  - Gradually whisk in the beef broth, ensuring there are no lumps. Then add soy sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Continue to stir until the gravy thickens, about 3-5 minutes.

                    Combine and Cook:

                      - Return the Salisbury steaks to the skillet, spooning some of the gravy over them. Cover the skillet and let it simmer on low heat for about 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the steaks to cook through.

                        Serve:

                          - Serve the Salisbury steaks hot, topped with the rich brown gravy. Pair it with mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
