Ingredients

12 oz flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

2 cups broccoli florets

1 red bell pepper, sliced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced

3 tablespoons soy sauce (low sodium)

1 tablespoon oyster sauce

1 tablespoon hoisin sauce

1 tablespoon sesame oil

2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for stir-frying)

1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (for thickening)

Cooked jasmine or brown rice for serving

Sesame seeds and sliced green onions for garnish

Instructions

Prep the Ingredients: Start by slicing the flank steak into thin, bite-sized pieces. Mince the garlic and ginger, and chop the red bell pepper and broccoli florets.

Marinate the Beef: In a medium bowl, combine the sliced beef, 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch mixture. Let marinate for about 10 minutes while you prepare the vegetables.

Heat the Wok: Heat a large wok or skillet over medium-high heat and add 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil.

Cook the Beef: Once the oil is shimmering, add the marinated beef to the pan in a single layer. Let it sear for about 2-3 minutes without stirring, allowing it to develop a good sear. Then stir-fry for another 2 minutes until browned and just cooked through. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.

Stir-Fry the Veggies: In the same wok, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Sauté the minced garlic and ginger for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Add the broccoli florets and red bell pepper; stir-fry for 4-5 minutes until the veggies are tender yet crisp.

Combine and Sauce It Up: Return the beef to the wok. Add the remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, and sesame oil. Stir everything together to coat the beef and veggies in the sauce. Pour in the cornstarch-water mixture to thicken the sauce and stir continuously for an additional 1-2 minutes until everything is well combined and heated through.

Serve: Remove from heat and serve the beef and broccoli stir-fry over cooked jasmine or brown rice. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions for an added crunch and burst of flavor.
