Ingredients

1 lb (450g) ground turkey

1 cup fresh basil pesto (store-bought or homemade)

1/2 cup breadcrumbs (use gluten-free if needed)

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 large egg

2 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional for heat)

2 tbsp olive oil (for drizzling)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.

Mix the Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, 1/2 cup of pesto, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, garlic, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using).

Form the Meatballs: Using your hands, gently mix until all ingredients are evenly combined. Avoid overmixing, as this can make the meatballs tough. Shape the mixture into meatballs, approximately 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter, and place them on the prepared baking sheet.

Add Olive Oil: Drizzle the meatballs with olive oil to promote browning during baking.

Bake the Meatballs: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through and slightly golden on the outside. An internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) is recommended for ground turkey.

Serve: Remove from the oven and allow the meatballs to cool slightly. Serve them with a drizzle of extra pesto or a sprinkle of additional Parmesan cheese, alongside spaghetti, zoodles, or as a delicious appetizer.
