Instructions

Prepare the Dough:

    - In a large bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.

      - Add melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix well.

        - Gradually add flour and salt to the wet mixture. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.

          - On a floured surface, knead the dough for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover with a damp towel, and let rise for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

            Make the Filling:

              - In a bowl, combine diced pears, chopped pecans, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Mix well and set aside.

                Prepare the Sticky Sauce:

                  - In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Add brown sugar, corn syrup, vanilla extract, and salt. Stir until the mixture is smooth and slightly thickened. Remove from heat.

                    Assemble the Buns:

                      - Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

                        - Roll the dough out onto a floured surface into a large rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.

                          - Spread the pear and pecan filling evenly over the dough.

                            - Starting from the long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log. Slice the log into 12 equal pieces.

                              - Pour the sticky sauce into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Arrange the slices cut-side up in the dish.

                                Bake:

                                  - Cover the baking dish with a towel and let the buns rise for another 30 minutes in a warm place.

                                    - Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.

                                      Cool and Serve:

                                        - Allow the sticky buns to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Invert onto a serving plate to enjoy the gooey topping.

                                          - Dust with powdered sugar and top with additional pecans, if desired.
