Ingredients

1 cup creamy peanut butter

1 cup unsalted butter

4 cups powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup chopped peanuts (optional, for added crunch)

1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional, for topping)

Instructions

Prepare the Pan: Line an 8x8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal later. Lightly grease the paper with cooking spray or butter to ensure easy release.

Melt the Butter: In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the unsalted butter. Stir continuously to prevent it from browning.

Add the Peanut Butter: Once the butter is melted, add the creamy peanut butter to the saucepan. Stir until the mixture is smooth and well combined. Remove from heat.

Add Sugar and Flavorings: Gradually add the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and salt to the saucepan. Stir vigorously until the mixture is smooth and fully incorporated. If using chopped peanuts, fold them in at this stage.

Transfer to the Pan: Pour the fudge mixture into the prepared baking pan. Use a spatula to spread it evenly into the corners and smooth the top.

Add Chocolate Topping (if desired): If you're adding chocolate chips, sprinkle them over the top of the fudge. You can gently press them in with the back of a spatula if you like.

Chill: Cover the pan with plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or until the fudge is firm.

Cut and Serve: Once the fudge has set, use the overhanging parchment paper to lift it out of the pan. Cut the fudge into small squares or bars. Serve immediately, or store in an airtight container in the fridge.
