Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup beef broth

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon dried thyme

Salt and pepper to taste

2 cups mashed potatoes (prepared, store-bought or homemade)

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Mashed Potatoes: If making from scratch, peel and chop 2 pounds of potatoes. Boil in salted water until tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain, mash with butter, milk, salt, and pepper to taste. Keep warm.

Cook the Beef: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté for about 3 minutes, until it begins to soften.

Add Garlic: Stir in the minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute until fragrant.

Brown the Meat: Add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook, breaking it apart with a spatula, until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.

Make the Gravy: Sprinkle the flour over the browned beef, stirring to coat evenly. Gradually pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, stirring continuously to avoid lumps.

Season It Right: Add dried thyme, salt, and pepper to the mixture. Let the gravy simmer for about 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens to your desired consistency.

Serve It Up: Spoon the creamy mashed potatoes onto serving plates. Ladle the savory ground beef and gravy mixture generously over the mashed potatoes.

Garnish and Enjoy: Sprinkle freshly chopped parsley on top for a pop of color and freshness. Serve hot and enjoy this hearty dish!
