Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) instant yeast

1 tsp sugar

½ tsp salt

¾ cup warm water (about 110°F)

2 tbsp olive oil, plus extra for brushing

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 tsp dried oregano

½ tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Salt to taste

Instructions

Prepare the Dough: In a mixing bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and instant yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy. Add the flour, salt, and 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm spot for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Shape the Breadsticks: Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Roll it out into a rectangle about ½ inch thick. Cut the dough into strips approximately 1 inch wide and 4-5 inches long.

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) while you prepare the garlic mixture.

Make Garlic Topping: In a small bowl, combine the minced garlic, oregano, crushed red pepper flakes (if using), and a pinch of salt. Mix with 2 tablespoons of olive oil to create a garlic paste.

Coat the Breadsticks: Place the cut strips onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the garlic mixture liberally over each stick, ensuring to coat them well. Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top.

Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the breadsticks are golden brown and thoroughly cooked.

Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley. Serve warm alongside marinara sauce or your favorite dip.
