Ingredients

1 fully cooked bone-in ham (6-8 pounds)

1 cup honey

1/2 cup brown sugar

2 tablespoons fresh ginger, grated

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground cloves

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/2 cup apple cider or orange juice

Whole cloves (for studding the ham)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C).

Prepare the Ham: Place the ham on a large cutting board. Score the surface in a diamond pattern and stud each diamond with whole cloves for decoration and flavor.

Make the Glaze: In a medium saucepan, combine honey, brown sugar, grated ginger, Dijon mustard, soy sauce, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and apple cider/orange juice. Heat over medium heat, stirring continuously until the sugar dissolves and the mixture begins to thicken slightly.

Bake the Ham: Place the ham in a roasting pan, brush generously with the glaze every 20-30 minutes, ensuring to reserve some for the final glazing.

Cook the Ham: Bake the ham uncovered in the preheated oven. Cooking time is about 15-18 minutes per pound, or until the internal temperature reaches 140°F (60°C).

Final Glaze: In the last 30 minutes of cooking, apply a final coating of the glaze to enhance the flavor and create a beautiful caramelized crust.

Rest the Ham: Once done, remove the ham from the oven and let it rest for at least 20 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute for maximum flavor.

Serve: Slice the ham and serve it warm. Drizzle any remaining glaze over slices for added sweetness.
