Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1 medium onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 packet taco seasoning (or homemade blend: 1 tsp chili powder, 1 tsp cumin, 1/2 tsp paprika, 1/2 tsp onion powder, 1/2 tsp garlic powder, salt and pepper to taste)

1 cup beef broth

8 taco shells (soft or hard, your preference)

1 cup shredded lettuce

1 cup diced tomatoes

1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or Mexican blend)

1/2 cup sour cream

1 avocado, diced

Fresh cilantro, for garnish

Lime wedges, for serving

Instructions

Cook the Beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain any excess fat.

Sauté Aromatics: Add the chopped onion and cook for about 3-4 minutes until softened. Then add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.

Season and Simmer: Stir in the taco seasoning, mixing well to combine. Pour in the beef broth and let it simmer for about 5-7 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly and becomes flavorful.

Prepare Taco Shells: While the beef is cooking, preheat your oven if you're using hard taco shells (follow package instructions). For soft tacos, warm them in a dry skillet for about 20-30 seconds on each side.

Assemble the Tacos: Spoon the beef mixture into the taco shells. Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, diced avocado, and a dollop of sour cream.

Garnish and Serve: Finish with a sprinkle of fresh cilantro and serve with lime wedges on the side for a zest of flavor.
