Ingredients

1 block (14 oz) firm tofu, drained and pressed

1/2 cup cornstarch

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika

1/4 teaspoon sea salt

Oil for frying (such as vegetable or canola oil)

1/4 cup Sriracha sauce

2 tablespoons honey (or maple syrup for a vegan option)

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1-2 teaspoons sesame seeds (for garnish)

Fresh cilantro or green onions (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the tofu: Start by cutting the pressed tofu into 1-inch cubes. Pat the cubes dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.

Create the seasoning mix: In a medium bowl, combine the cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and sea salt. Toss the tofu cubes in the mixture until evenly coated.

Fry the tofu: Heat about 1 inch of oil in a deep skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat. Gently add the coated tofu cubes to the hot oil in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry until all sides are golden brown and crispy, about 4-6 minutes per batch. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the fried tofu to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Make the sauce: In a small saucepan, combine the Sriracha, honey, soy sauce, and rice vinegar. Heat over medium-low heat while stirring until the mixture is well combined and heated through (about 2-3 minutes). Adjust the spice level by adding more Sriracha if desired.

Coat the tofu: Once all the tofu is fried, place it in a large mixing bowl, and drizzle the Sriracha honey sauce over the crispy tofu. Gently toss until all pieces are well coated.

Serve them up: Transfer the coated tofu bites to a serving platter. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and garnish with freshly chopped cilantro or green onions for an added pop of color and flavor.

Enjoy: Serve hot as an appetizer, snack, or main dish with your favorite dipping sauce on the side!
