Ingredients

1 lb fresh green beans, trimmed

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1 large egg

1 cup panko breadcrumbs

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon paprika

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat)

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Olive oil spray or cooking oil for frying

Instructions

Prep the Green Beans: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Rinse the green beans under cold water and pat them dry thoroughly with a kitchen towel.

Set Up Breading Stations: In a shallow bowl, add the flour. In a second shallow bowl, whisk the egg. In a third bowl, combine the panko breadcrumbs, minced garlic, paprika, onion powder, salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper (if using), and grated Parmesan cheese.

Coat the Green Beans: Take each green bean and first dip it into the flour, ensuring it's covered lightly. Shake off any excess flour, then dip it into the whisked egg, letting any excess drip off. Finally, roll the green bean in the panko mixture until fully coated. Place the coated green beans on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Prepare for Baking: Once all green beans are coated, spray them generously with olive oil spray (or drizzle with a little oil and toss to coat for a crispier texture).

Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the green beans are golden brown and crispy. Make sure to flip them halfway through for even cooking.

Serving: Once the green bean fries are done, remove them from the oven and let them cool for a couple of minutes. Serve immediately as a delicious appetizer or side dish with your choice of dipping sauce (like ranch or a garlic aioli).
