Ingredients

12 oz spaghetti

1 cup heavy cream

1/2 cup unsalted butter

1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

1 cup fresh basil leaves, packed

2 garlic cloves, minced

Salt, to taste

Freshly cracked black pepper, to taste

Pinch of nutmeg (optional)

Cherry tomatoes, halved (for garnish)

Extra basil leaves, for garnish

Instructions

Cook the Spaghetti: In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve about 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the spaghetti and set aside.

Prepare the Basil Alfredo Sauce: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

Add Cream: Pour in the heavy cream and stir well. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, allowing it to bubble lightly. Stir continuously for about 2-3 minutes to let the cream thicken slightly.

Incorporate Parmesan: Gradually add the grated Parmesan cheese, stirring constantly until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth. If the sauce becomes too thick, add a splash of the reserved pasta water until desired consistency is achieved.

Blend in Basil: In a blender or food processor, combine the fresh basil leaves, a pinch of salt, and a dash of nutmeg if using. Add about 1/4 cup of the cream sauce and blend until smooth. If you prefer a chunkier texture, pulse until well combined but not fully smooth.

Combine Pasta and Sauce: Add the cooked spaghetti to the skillet with the Alfredo sauce. Pour the basil puree over the pasta and gently toss until everything is well coated, adding more pasta water if necessary. Season with additional salt and freshly cracked black pepper to taste.

Serve: Plate the creamy basil Alfredo spaghetti and garnish with halved cherry tomatoes and extra basil leaves for a vibrant touch. Serve immediately while hot.
