Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks)

1 cup packed light brown sugar

1/2 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup chocolate chips (milk or dark, your choice)

1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans, optional)

Instructions

Brown the Butter: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Continue cooking, stirring frequently, until the butter turns a golden brown color and has a nutty aroma (about 5-7 minutes). Be careful not to burn it! Once browned, remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

Mix the Sugars: In a large mixing bowl, combine the brown butter, light brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Mix until well combined and smooth.

Add Eggs and Vanilla: Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract until fully combined.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Avoid overmixing; a few lumps are fine.

Fold in Chocolate Chips: Gently fold in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using) until evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Prepare the Baking Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9x13 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang on the sides for easy removal. Lightly grease the parchment paper with cooking spray.

Pour and Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it out evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

Cool and Cut: Allow the blondies to cool in the pan for about 10-15 minutes, then lift them out using the parchment overhang and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Once cool, cut into squares and enjoy!
