1 teaspoon vanilla extract

⅔ cup buttermilk

For the Cookie Dough Filling:

2 cups all-purpose flour (heat-treated or baked)

1 teaspoon salt

½ cup mini chocolate chips

⅓ cup milk (adjust for consistency)

For the Buttercream Frosting:

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

4 cups powdered sugar

2 tablespoons heavy cream

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Extra mini chocolate chips for decoration

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 8-inch round cake pans.

Prepare Dry Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt for the cake. Set aside.

Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. This should take about 3-4 minutes.

Add Eggs and Vanilla: Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.

Combine Mixtures: Gradually mix in the dry ingredients, alternating with buttermilk, starting and ending with the flour mixture. Blend until just combined.

Bake the Cake: Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow to cool for 10 minutes in the pans before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Make Cookie Dough Filling: To prepare the cookie dough, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Stir in vanilla extract. Gradually mix in the heat-treated flour and salt until combined. If the mixture is too dry, add a little milk until you reach a cookie dough consistency. Fold in the mini chocolate chips.

Prepare Buttercream Frosting: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, alternating with heavy cream and vanilla extract, until you reach a smooth and spreadable consistency.

Assemble the Cake: Once the cakes are completely cooled, place one layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of cookie dough filling on top, then top with the second cake layer.

Frost the Cake: Use the buttercream frosting to cover the top and sides of the cake. Decorate the top with extra mini chocolate chips.

Chill (Optional): Refrigerate the cake for about 30 minutes to set the frosting and filling before slicing.

Serve and Enjoy: Slice the Cake and serve it to your guests, or enjoy it yourself—indulging in the gooey cookie dough filling and rich frosting!
