Ingredients

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

1/4 teaspoon baking powder

1/8 teaspoon baking soda

1/8 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons granulated sugar

2 tablespoons light brown sugar, packed

1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 cup whole milk

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 tablespoon sour cream

2 tablespoons semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional for extra decadence)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line your muffin tin with two cupcake liners.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a small mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, salt, granulated sugar, and light brown sugar. Whisk together until well combined.

Combine Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the vanilla extract, milk, vegetable oil, and sour cream until smooth.

Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix—it’s okay if there are a few lumps!

Add Chocolate Chips: Gently fold in the chocolate chips if using.

Fill the Cupcake Liners: Divide the batter evenly between the two cupcake liners, filling them about two-thirds full to allow for rising.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.

Cool: Once baked, remove the cupcakes from the oven and let them cool in the tin for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Frost and Serve (optional): Once cooled, top with your favorite frosting or serve plain for a rich chocolate treat. Enjoy with your loved one!
