Ingredients

1 package of puff pastry (thawed)

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 cup cooked bacon, chopped

1 egg (beaten for egg wash)

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

1 tsp smoked paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

Optional: Fresh herbs (like chives or parsley) for garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Roll Out Puff Pastry: On a lightly floured surface, unfold the thawed puff pastry and roll it out gently to smooth out creases, creating a square or rectangle shape.

Season the Cheese: In a medium bowl, mix the shredded cheddar cheese with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper until well combined.

Assemble the Filling: Evenly sprinkle the seasoned cheese mixture over one half of the puff pastry. Top the cheese with the chopped cooked bacon.

Create Twists: Fold the other half of the pastry over the bacon and cheese filling. Use a rolling pin to flatten slightly to seal the edges. Cut into strips (about 1-inch wide) using a sharp knife or pizza cutter.

Twist and Arrange: Take each strip and twist it several times to form a spiral shape. Arrange the twists on the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space in between each.

Brush with Egg Wash: Generously brush the tops of each twist with the beaten egg for a golden finish.

Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the twists are puffed, golden brown, and crispy.

Cool and Serve: Remove the cheesy bacon twists from the oven and let them cool slightly. If desired, garnish with chopped fresh herbs. Serve warm as an irresistible snack or appetizer.
