Ingredients

1 cup (200g) granulated sugar

1/2 cup (100g) brown sugar, packed

1/2 cup (1 stick or 115g) unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

1/2 cup (65g) all-purpose flour

1/2 cup (50g) unsweetened cocoa powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon baking powder

1 cup (180g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Optional: 1/2 cup (75g) chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat for easy release.

Mix Sugars and Butter: In a large mixing bowl, combine the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and melted butter. Whisk together until the mixture is smooth and well combined.

Add Eggs and Vanilla: Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract until fully incorporated.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder until blended.

Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix – a few lumps are okay!

Fold in Chocolate Chips: Gently fold in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using) until evenly distributed throughout the cookie dough.

Scoop the Dough: Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, portion out the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart to allow for spreading.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set and the tops are slightly cracked. The centers will look a bit underbaked, but they will set while cooling.

Cool: Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Enjoy: Once cooled, enjoy your chewy brownie cookies with a glass of milk or your favorite beverage!
