Beef and Broccoli Stir-Fry

1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

2 cups broccoli florets

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated

1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce

2 tablespoons oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1/2 cup beef broth

1 teaspoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Cooked jasmine rice, for serving

Sesame seeds and sliced green onions, for garnish

Instructions
 

Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, combine the sliced flank steak with 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, cornstarch, and brown sugar. Let it marinate for at least 20 minutes to enhance the flavor and tenderize the meat.

    Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, beef broth, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes (if using). Set aside.

      Blanch the Broccoli: Bring a pot of water to a boil and add the broccoli florets. Blanch them for 1-2 minutes until a vibrant green. Drain and immediately transfer them to an ice bath to stop the cooking process. Once cool, drain again and set aside.

        Stir-Fry the Beef: In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef in a single layer, cooking for about 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.

          Sauté Garlic and Ginger: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of oil. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger, cooking for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

            Combine Ingredients: Return the cooked beef to the skillet along with the blanched broccoli. Pour the prepared sauce over the beef and broccoli, tossing well to combine. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and everything is heated through.

              Serve: Remove from heat and serve the beef and broccoli stir-fry over a bed of cooked jasmine rice. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.
